Witness to the Wild - The Great Migration

Searching for Peace in the Chaos of the Wild.

A note from the artist:

At first glance, the wild can seem brutal, even cruel. Predators hunt prey. Prey fight to survive. Yet hidden in the brutality, a subtle tranquility is hidden in the rituals of survival – evident in the wildlife clinging to survival but basking in life. Their emotions are raw and human-like, demonstrating our most primal feelings in moments of fear, excitement, sadness, and love. In these snapshots we can see ourselves - our pursuit of connection, our desire to be free, even our struggles with loneliness and depression. They ask us to stop and stare – even amongst the chaos, we ask ourselves “do I wish that was me?”

Witness to the Wild – The Great Migration – follows the patterns and rituals of the Mara-Serengeti. These images document the migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra that travel through the Maasai Mara every summer, navigating short term dangers in pursuit of a grander survival.

My hope is that in this collection of images you see yourself as both predator and prey, individual and member of the collective. I hope that through these images of chaos, you see and feel peace.
