Alone but not lonely.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve started to enjoy solitude more and more. Something I would try and avoid at all costs has become an almost essential part of my existence.

It’s where I find peace.

This scene takes me to that feeling. The feeling you get when you wake up before anyone else. The house is yours. The city is yours. Or in this case, the Maasai Mara is yours.

Your surroundings are free of noise. Free of movement. Free of judgment.

It’s an ultimate freedom.

I imagine that this impala was feeling this exact emotion in this moment. Enjoying a sense of freedom as he strolled through his often occupied but currently vacant neighborhood. Awake before dawn, finally enjoying some much needed peace and quiet.
